Physician
A licensed physician must oversee the training program and AED placement to ensure compliance with regulations.
CPR/AED Training
Anyone using an AED must complete training in CPR and AED use, provided or approved by the Texas Department of Health.
EMS Notification
When an AED is acquired, the owner must inform the local emergency medical services (EMS) provider about its location, type, and availability.
Maintenance Program
AED owners or lessees must maintain and test the device following the manufacturer’s instructions.
Notification of Use
If an AED is used to assist someone in cardiac arrest, the local EMS provider must be notified promptly.
