Requirements for AED Use
1. Physician Approval:
- A doctor’s prescription is needed to have an AED.
2. CPR/AED Training:
- You must complete CPR and AED training approved by the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or another recognized program.
- Refresher training is required every 2 years to stay updated.
3. EMS Notification:
- Notify your local emergency communications center and ambulance service about the AED, including its location and type.
4. Maintenance Program:
- Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to regularly test and maintain the AED.
5. Notification of Use:
- There are currently no laws requiring you to report when the AED is used.
